Hourly Rates = Better Value!
It is important to know why we charge by the hour, rather than by the job. We feel that hourly rates are more cost effective for you, because you are paying only for the work that is done. Compare these two examples:
- Company X charges a flat $1,000 for a 5-page website that takes 15 hours to complete.
- CBI Web charges $25/hour for the same website, takes the same amount of time, and it only costs you $375.
Naturally, turnaround time and flat rates can vary greatly from one company to another, and by charging an hourly rate CBI Web can guarantee that you pay only for what you want, and nothing more.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: You're charging me by the hour, but do you actually work full hours? Or am I paying for coffee breaks and personal time too?
A: You are charged for full hours, and none of it personal time. How we manage that is by using a work timer on the desktop, and if something takes us away from actually working on your project, the timer gets paused. We pause it for things like:
- Phone calls (including to and from the client)
- Certain types of online or offline research related to your project
*Depends on the reason for the research. - All breaks (bio, coffee, quick nap)
- Checking/reading/sending email
- Any type of interruption that takes us away from your project
With the inevitable interruptions as listed, a normally one-hour task can take more than an hour. However, pausing and resuming the timer when necessary results in accurate hourly charges, right down to the second.
Q: What do you charge for standalone tasks such as making a banner or changing the layout of a page?
A: Everything is charged by the hour, no matter what it is we're doing for you. Instead of keeping track of different rates for different tasks, it is much easier for everyone if we keep it to one simple rate for all situations.
Q: If it takes less than one hour to complete a task, will you still charge me for a full hour's work?
A: No! Never! That would be completely unfair, not to mention unethical in our eyes. All work is pro-rated, meaning if a task takes 1 hour and 10 minutes, then you are charged for that full hour and only 10 minutes worth of the next hour, based on your package rate.
Example: $25/hr is roughly .62 per minute. So a 1hr10min project would be $25 + $6.20 (.62 x 10 minutes), which comes to $31.20. You pay only the portion of the hour that was worked.
Q: How can I be sure that you really do work and charge the way you describe? Aren't you just telling me what I want to hear?
A: You can't be sure, unless you sit beside us with a stopwatch as we work. We can give examples of clients who were surprised when we charged them so little for a project, due to our work ethic and methods, but how do you know we didn't pay them to say that?
Trust works two ways. We trust that you will work with us honestly, and hope you will trust us the same way in return.
Q: If I hire you, is there a contract to sign? Or do I just hope for the best?
A: For the protection of everyone involved we always work under a signed contract, and will not work without one.
Q: I understand that for certain jobs you may need access to my server and other sensitive information regarding my website. How safe is that information with you?
A: Any information you choose to provide is stored in encrypted files, and is wiped clean from our client database if and when you no longer require our services.
This is a good time to mention also that we do not sell, give or otherwise transfer your email address or any personal and private information to any third party. We hate unsolicited email as much as you do.
Q: How do I pay you? Cheque? Money Order? ....?
A: At this time we accept payment only through PayPal. If you're not familiar with PayPal, it is the largest payment system on the Internet today, and is used by millions of people, including large corporations. You can open an account there, or use your credit card. PayPal is very flexible and most of all safe.
Q: Okay, I'm willing to give you a chance. How do I get started?
A: To get started, simply fill in our order form, and someone will contact you via email or phone within 24 hours to discuss further details. And Thank You!
